Hi everyone!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Natasja, and I was born and raised in The Netherlands. I have always enjoyed reading, observing and studying life; basically anything interesting around me! I loved being surrounded by nature and animals from a young age and could dream away for hours in a wild wood. Alas, there wasn’t much wild nature in Holland, so I left to search for greener pastures! I have travelled through mainly Europe after that, searching and experiencing life. I have lived and worked in Norway, Wales, Norther-Ireland and England. Interesting years! Since 2016 I live in the South of France.

Since the age of 18 I have been writing my ideas down and am published since 2014. The Queen’s Curse was my debut novel.

I am now a novelist with 9 books in total, but am also an eco-warrior, animal lover (and thus vegan). My interests include reading the best, poetry, space and science, interesting movies, nature and art, and outdoor activities such as hiking, organic farming, swimming in the sea, paddle-boarding and cycling. I live in the Pyrenees, South of France close to the sea which I love and I co-parent two small children who I have adopted with my ex. I am always trying to help and save wildlife or collect plastic out of the sea.

I am fascinated by a lot of things and have a hungry mind. I believe a good idea on its own cannot survive: it needs to be explored, researched and only a good story with believable characters may do it justice. I prefer a good balance of both character driven and plot driven content.
I write speculative fiction because that lets me explore a lot of subjects, but at the same time entertain people and make them think. My books have been described as ‘thought-provoking’. My writing is about change, freedom, advocating for lgbt equality and animal welfare.

In my writing I also deal with big psychological and ethical themes and struggles of life such as death, love and loss, abuse and the consequences of our actions. I try to build strong characters as realistic as possible, for even though the genre is Fantasy I want people to feel connected with my heroes and villains as they would with real life people.

I am influenced by writers such as Tanith Lee, Kahlil Gibran, Patricia McKillip and Hermann Hesse.

I am  currently working on book three in the Epic Supernatural Fantasy Comyenti Series.

Book 1, ‘Call Off The Search,’ and the dramatic sequel, ‘Children Of The Sun’ are available both for Kindle and in Paperback.

‘Chained Freedom’– a stand alone fairy-tale for adults as part of the Comyenti Series to give readers a taste– is a FREE download on Amazon.

Note to the US readers: All my novels are written in British English using the Oxford Dictionary. Words are therefore spelled slightly different. These are not errors, thank you!
